SPOTA OBSTACLE COURSE

Inspired by our friends at Adelaide City Rotaract Club, we are building backpacks full of essential school supplies and personal items to be donated to disadvantaged children in the local community.

2012 marked the year of our first International Club Trip to Timor Leste. Ten members immersed themselves in the local culture and spent time with members of the Rotaract Club of Dili. They also taught first aid, English and computer skills to young people.

We have participated in and volunteered for the Frankston Relay for Life since its revival in 2011. Relay for Life supports the Cancer Council to aid in the prevention, treatment and awareness of cancer.

SPOTA – Teen Mental Health Literacy Alliance is a collaboration of local school, sports clubs, workplaces and the wider community to help improve teen mental health. Our Obstacle Course raised funds for SPOTA and we are committed to an ongoing partnership.

We have run Trivia Night's annually since the club's inception in 2010, fundraising for organisations such as Kids Under Cover, City Life Frankston, RSPCA and 4 Kids By Kids. Our most recent event fundraised for our Backpacks For Kids project.

Supporting our local community, Peninsula Rotaract Club have taken part in Clean Up Australia Day the last two years. Members assisted in cleaning up rubbish in the Sweetwater Creek Nature Reserve, Frankston Beach and the Kananook Creek Walking Trail.

We always find sausage sizzles at our local Bunnings to be a great fundraiser. Our most recent sausage sizzle raised approximately $2000, which was donated to Beyond Blue, the Make a Wish Foundation and other local projects.

Our Casino Night fundraiser raised over $4000 for End Trachoma. We had professional croupiers running casino tables and our overall winner for the night took home a brand new TV.

The Australian Rotaract Conference is held in a different city in Australia every year. It brings together Rotaractors from across the country and features a variety of guest speakers and activities. The most recent ARC was in February 2020 and we had 7 members attend.

Many of our members have undergone First Aid certificate 2 training and have kept up to date with their CPR training. This has been valuable for our members to learn skills that they may have to use one day, and for prospective employment.

Interota is a worldwide Rotaract conference which is organised by Rotaractors and is held every three years. In 2014 Interota was held in Toronto and Montreal in Canada and two of our members attended. They had a great time meeting Rotaractors from around the world!

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a three day residential high energy program supporting and developing young leaders. Rotaractors are encouraged to attend this program to develop their leadership skills, and some have gone on to assist with the organisation of the event.

The Rotary District 9820 Conference is a gathering of Rotarians and Rotaractors from around the Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland region. Members attend to hear motivational speakers and also inform Rotarians from the district about Rotaract and what we do.

Australian Rotaract Training is held annually before the end of the financial year when members take on their new board positions. It gives members an opportunity to gain knowledge about Rotaract, develop leadership skills and collaborate with clubs around Victoria.

The Rotary International Preconvention is an opportunity for Rotaractors to exchange ideas, listen to engaging speakers, and connect with the global community to create positive change. It is held in a different city each year in the days leading up to the convention.

We invite guest speakers to our meetings to talk about causes that they are passionate about and projects which we can get involved with. We also have speakers come in to teach members new skills. We always leave these meetings feeling motivated and inspired!
